Technology Action Plan

TEA Learning System Component: Learning Goals
Improvement Goal: Integrate technology into our classrooms in accordance with the NETS*S.
Targeted Audience: administration, faculty, and staff of Blum ISD

Tasks/ Action Steps
What will be done?
Teachers will integrate a minimum of one project for each standard of the NETS*S.

Responsibilities
Who will do it?
All teachers across the disciplines are required to address the NETS*S.

Resources
What funds, time, people, and materials are needed?
Updated copies of the NETS*S will be distributed to all staff members. A staff development session will be held to collaborate on ways to successfully implement the standards in the classroom.

Timeline
By when (day/month)?
May 2010

Monitoring
How will you gauge progress toward the goal?
The teachers will complete a report in May stating technology projects implemented in the semester as they addressed the standards.

Evaluation
How will success be determined?
The initial goal in May of 2010 will be for our teachers to simply attempt the use of technology in compliance to the standards. Our summative goal will be by May of 2011 the teachers are not only addressing each of the standards as a checklist, but rather are in constant interaction with technology and addressing the standards on an ongoing basis. A new report form will be developed for May of 2011 to also address the frequency of each standard being addressed.

Purpose:
This action plan is in response to the student survey conducted where my findings suggest that teachers are not utilizing technology frequently enough, nor are they fully engaging the potential of technology in the learning process, and as a result, are not engaging our students in the technology experience that is critical in their education in the 21st century.

Web Conferencing 101

Well, I had my first ever web conference on Thursday, December 3, 2009. I probably chose the worst computer for me to use. We have a lab with the mini-computers, and I chose to use one of them because they have a built-in microphone and web-cam. The problem is that when the web conference came up on the screen, it didn't even use the entire screen on the mini-computer screen. So the conference with the pictures of the participants and the text screen combine was only slightly larger than a credit card. So I am sure I looked ridiculous leaning in to read the text and squinting like I did. But, I will find out today how to force the computer into utilizing the full screen next time.

I didn't have really any specific questions for this course, but one has now crossed my mind concerning the internship in general. Is there a way for us to view the posting we have made into our portfolio?
